Reviewing Exceptions in MyGeotab

SUMMARY

This article explains how to log in to MyGeotab, access the Exceptions page, apply filters & search, and review a specific exception.


Logging in to MyGeotab

  1. Open a web browser and go to MyGeotab login.

  2. Click Sign In.

 


Accessing Exceptions

  1. From the left-hand navigation menu, select Rules & Groups.

  2. Click Exceptions.

You will now see a list of exception events generated by your company’s rules (Seat Belt, Speed > 10, and Excessive Speed < 20).

Applying Filters and Search

To refine your list of exceptions:

  • Date/Time range – View exceptions within a specific period.

  • Asset/Driver – Filter by vehicle or driver.

  • Rule – Select a rule type such as Speeding or Harsh Braking.

  • Search bar – Enter keywords (asset name, driver name, or rule name).

Click Apply to update the results.


Reviewing a Specific Exception

  1. From the list, click the exception record you want to review.

  2. A details window opens, showing:

    • Driver/Asset involved

    • Date and time of the event

    • Rule triggered

    • Location on the map where the exception occurred

    • Any notes, attachments, or comments

  3. Use the Map view to zoom in and see where the event occurred.

  4. To save the details, click Export in the top-right.


Permissions Reminder

  • To add comments, attachments, or update statuses, you must have either:

    • Administer Exception Event review, or

    • Participate in Exception Event review clearance.

  • With basic access, you can only view exceptions.
